Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July: Small Changes, Big Impact

Every July, millions of people around the world take part in Plastic Free July—a shared global movement that helps millions of people reduce plastic waste through simple, everyday choices and be part of the solution to plastic pollution.

Every single day, the equivalent of 2,000 garbage trucks full of plastic are dumped into the world’s oceans, rivers, and lakes. And every year, 19-23 million tons of plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers and seas. The good news is that even small changes can make a meaningful difference when we all take part.

Here are a few simple ways to reduce your plastic use:

  • Carry a reusable water bottle instead of buying a plastic bottle of water.
  • Bring reusable shopping bags on your next shopping trip.
  • Choose reusable coffee cups and food containers for takeaway meals.
  • Skip plastic straws and cutlery whenever possible.
  • Reuse what you already have before buying something new.

Plastic Free July isn’t about being perfect—it’s about making conscious choices that reduce waste and inspire lasting habits. Whether you swap one disposable item or completely rethink your daily routine, every action contributes to a cleaner, healthier planet.
